When was the last time you did something for the first time?
Do you remember reading that book as a kid that took you to new places?, to hidden worlds? to a world of seemingly insurmountable challenges?
“Make your choice, adventurous Stranger Strike the bell and bide the danger,
Or wonder, till it drives you mad,
What would have followed if you had.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Magician's Nephew
Well you can go there again, you can find a new world of firsts, and its much closer than you think. The bell towers of Churches in the UK are part of a rich and often hidden heritage of bell ringing that spans more than a millennium.
Entrance to these hidden spaces is free and will open up a world that many of us have lost - a world of new experiences.
Simply listen out for the bells at your local church - most have a practice night and will welcome visitors eager to find out more about bell ringing.
What? scared? afraid to go alone? Well... take a friend or two.
